Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that effectively addresses a variety of mental health issues. In contrast to other talk therapies, CBT makes it easier to grasp and alter emotional experiences. According to CBT, there are three interconnected components that form a continuous cycle that influences our emotional experiences and actions: feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
Cognitive behavioral therapy sessions follow a structured format for effectiveness. Each session starts with a brief mood check-in and a review of the previous session. The therapist and patient then set the agenda together, review any assigned homework, and discuss new issues. Feedback and summaries are provided throughout to reinforce learning.
